Hi worked up in Aberdeen last year on a 1200 square meter granite floor job, because the sreed had'nt gone off and the water moisture content in the screed was to high, to lay tiles we had to use a decoupling mat. This was a plastic mat that you laid down onto the screed then tiled in the normal way, the mat was actually a floating membrane. I think it was called Watec. Has anyone else used this system before and what did you think. Cheers Mick

never used it Mick but good thread m8.I look forward to the replies...im sure guys like pjc, tilling logistics,Highlander,Dave will have something to say on this...oh and Wetdec probably.

Never heard of Watec but i have used Ditra which I assume is similar. It does a good job.

New one on me.You can use an uncoupling membrane but they are stuck to the substrate with a suitable adhesive and not just laid directly down without sticking it down..

Wetdecs supplies something called Durabase which is very similar to Ditra. Durabase is yellow.... and yes, it is made in Germany, like Ditra.

We thought it was a bit funny the mat not being stuck down but we went with the spec the architect wanted. I'll try and get the exact name and let you all know
