decoupling
In economic and environmental fields, decoupling refers to an economy that would be able to grow without corresponding increases in environmental pressure. In many economies, increasing production (GDP) currently raises pressure on the environment. An economy that would be able to sustain economic growth while reducing the amount of resources such as water or fossil fuels used and delink environmental deterioration at the same time would be said to be decoupled. Environmental pressure is often measured using emissions of pollutants, and decoupling is often measured by the emission intensity of economic output. Examples of absolute long-term decoupling are rare, but recently some industrialized countries have decoupled GDP growth from both production- and, to a lesser extent, consumption-based CO2 emissions. In 2002, the OECD defined the term as follows:
the term 'decoupling' refers to breaking the link between "environmental bads" and "economic goods." It explains this as having rates of increasing wealth greater than the rates of increasing impacts.
Hi, hoping for some advice.... Had a anhydrite screed laid early Feb. Looking at laying 20mm thick limestone at the end of march. The floor has UFH but the heating system can't be commissioned until the floor is laid-so can't get any heat in the floor.

Hi, I had a small kitchen extension built a couple of years ago. The new sand and cement screed has been taken right up to the old one over where the old external wall used to be. Obviously after a couple of years this has now well dried out. The new floor has more insulation than the old.
The...
I have used Durabase a couple of times and decided it was safer to backbuttered the felt side and got a perfect contact, just like when backbuttering tiles.
Just wondering whether anyone else does this, because there are a few videos on youtube but none of them backbutter the matting.
Thanks

Folks hope you can help.
Shortly due to tile a bathroom floor, which is wooden.
I'm replacing all the floorboards with 22mm t&g P5 chipboard, glued and screwed.
I'm not sure if I'm best then using 6mm HB over the top to tile onto or to use decoupling matt instead. Don't know if it makes a...

I am going to be tiling my upstairs bathroom that has a wooden floor. It originally had wooden floorboards 22mm thick. We have removed all the tongue and groove floor boards as they were rotten and uneven. The joists were solid and in good nick.

Has anybody purchased any of the red decoupling matting now supplied by the UnderFloorHeatingStore. For the pro grid system they previously used the xoxo one by dura. Now they’re using a red one which I’ve seen on Alibaba from Chin. Anybody even tried any of these matings from China? Is this...

Howdy. I'm in the middle of a DIY upgrade of a 1st floor shower room, which is around 8m2. So far i have lifted the 22mm chipboard and fully strengthened/screwed on all joins. installed 10mm XPS boards and leveled across a 1500x900 tray former. Electric UFH fitted and just at the weekend there i...
Looking for a mat to help stop any movement between solid hallway floor and suspended ceiling over cellar. Victorian geometric tiles over top.
BAL or Mapei - any preference?
Cheers TN.
self build completed 10 years ago, large kitchen diner on 65mm hand mixed screed, with no stress relief joints & wet UFH!
Tiled with limestone, found that the tilers switched to cheaper adhesive not suitable for UFH approx a third of the way through the job, they then added flex fluid to the...
Each and every project has different requirements. Maybe height build-up is an issue, perhaps time is an issue, or the substrate is particularly troublesome. It could be that you aren’t looking for a mat and want an adhesive that has uncoupling and anti-fracture properties.
Cavities or no...
