hi Guys,
thanks for all the advice and help a while ago, some of you may remember my posts and traumas 🙂lol🙂 about adhesive for cappuccino marble.
just thought i would let you know the final outcome.....
ended up doing quite a bit myself (yeah, we had a few more arguments 😳) and struggled with the awful freezing weather/snow before Christmas.... having to defrost the tile cutter with hot water most days :yikes::yikes:
we used the Keraflex adhesive as advised and found it fine once we got the hang of the consistency to use.
We got the Vitrex Pro 900 bridge saw from Topps for £220 and could certainly recommend it!!! It could with horrendous weather, fractious marble and temperamental tilers just fine :hurray::hurray::hurray:
I absolutely love it, cant believe how fab it looks - i think I posted some before pics earlier- and am sooo proud of our handiwork. what do you guys reckon???
(its not quite finished- the shower screen and vertical chrome radiator and door to the boiler cupboard are still to go up, but the tiling/grouting/sealing are FINALLY done)
X

A lovely colour combination and good result!
Hope you enjoy the pleasures of your hard work and here's to your next tiling project:8:

really?? :cheers2::clap:
seems worth the upset and traumas we had now, but i'm really please you lot agree it looks good considering we're just DIYers and learning as we went along.. there are one or two things would do differently if we did it again.

Timeless John- :yikes::yikes::yikes: let me and my bank balance recover first!!.... having said that, would love to re-do the kitchen floor so i have underfloor heating....

oh, and i forgot to mention, the Polish guys who did the bathroom and tiled the floor have to come back to put the radiator up- one of the tiles on the floor creaks a bit, my OH says they will have to take it up to sort it and re-grout 🙁🙁🙁

the other thing I think you all helped me with was using one of the floor tiles (emperador) to make a marble top for the wash stand, I think it looks fab- though worked out a bit expensive as I went to Cheshire marble to get it cut down (they polished and shaped the edge too though 🙂 ) and were really helpful.

Congratulations - super combination of colours and design with the vertical band up the band front and continuing up the wall behind the shower.

I would like to see a photo of the bath / shower with the screen in place Saffy when you have completed. perhaps post one to this thread. ?

The sense of acheivement you feel now is what we all get most [ Not all, but most ] days and we get paid for it !

Pride in job done well - you have achieved something the vast majority of folk would not even be able to envisage.

Well done.

ahh, thanks everyone!
i'm thrilled you think its ok :hurray:
yeah, we have a real sense of satisfaction and achievement now it's done though personally, i could have happily quit and got someone in lots of times over, it seemed so hard going, and everything took so long! And it's given us a renewed admiration for all you professionals
one of the big difficulties was my house really is a bit wonky and none of the wallls line up in any direction- horizontally or vertically so almost every cut was fiddly.

thanks Richard, will post photos when it really is finally finished (am worrying a bit about the floor tile and whether it will have to come up without damaging anything) the other bit that still needs sorting is the door to the boiler cupboard- i'm going to order a coloured glass one (chocolate coloured) but will post when its done

Ps for anyone that's interested, the before shots are in my original thread heading applestone advice!! lol bit of a difference...

Thats usually the norm, it's very rare to find straight walls

Nice work and some brave decisions with the tile combos which I think work well. I love the floor tile-gorgeous!! I'm also pleased to see the absence of corner trim with this stone set as it has a more mature and natural look for me.

You now have the comfort you have so suffered for  Sublime.

Nice work and some brave choices.

Love the floor tile and in this case the absence of corner trim.

You now have the comfort that you have suffered for  Superb!

Well done Saffy, been reading your threads with interest, we plan on using Cappuccino marble for our en-suite, just hope it turns out looking as good as yours.
