Iv decided for a couple off reasons too tarmac my backgarden in order too put a car or on. And it will be easier for the dogs.

It has those big "council" concrete slabs down at the moment and ill be lifting these.

But i have no idea about tarmacing and ill try and keep the cost down as much as i can by doing aas much off the prep work as i can im assuming this means digging it out so its level.

Does anybody have any idea how much they charge? by m2 or wat ever

I got a quote for over 1k for an area of about 50m2. Way more than I expected, and that was from a groundworker doing work on the estate where I live for the building co's.

Basically he said that tarmac was cheap for large areas, but there was a basic minimal cost which made smaller areas expensive.

Hence Ill be ordering more gravel lol.

I think you may also need planning permission to do that due to the new SUDS regulations. Not sure though but you might be best to check.

A mate has mentioned that he "thinks" that its £100 a ton,

But hes also said id get away with tarmacking straight over the councul slabs?

If you are using it for dogs then a concrete slab would be better... you can power wash concrete but if you do it to tarmac it will destroy it.. and tarmac will be hard to keep clean from dog muck and pee etc.

Seal the tarmac with a special cold tar and sharp sand mix. Leaves a very hard finish if applied in the right weather conditions. Comes in pre-mixed and is expensive.

Will get you a price for ex-plant for base coat and finish later. My dad works in our local quarry which has a tar plant.

Cheers fella does anyone know if they will tarac over the counci slabs or do they need lifting up?

Was even tempted too put it up on my hammer.

Well lifted a few today those 3ft by 2 ft slabs wiegh abit! the sand/soil mix underneath is EXTREMLY soft the dog with no effort at all dug a very big hole in no time!

Iv put the job on Myhammer and been quoted 475inc VAT.

Iv only written 38m2 ws covered in slabs needs tarmacing.

Do you think the blokes price inc hardcoring etc?
