I am thinking of laying porcelain floor tiles in my entrance hall. I am concerned that they may not wear well in this location particularly from scratching.

I would be grateful for comments from the experts please. Thank you.

Porcelain or ceramic are both very durable and well suited for that kind location, both will last longer than any non-tile material used in the same location. If properly cared for you shouldn’t have a problem. If your concerned about going for a glazed or polished tile finish (no need to be), then you could consider an unglazed finish..
If installed correctly you shouldn’t have anything to worry about as they are designed to be long lasting, durable and hard wearing..

Thanks very much for your reply to my question and your advice. I feel confident to lay porcelain tiles now.

Thanks again.

There are various grades of porcelain and ceramic tiles, best bet is to ask ur local tile shop which would be suitable for a high traffic area.

hi Roy

Before you buy over the internet, have a good look through the various tile shops and get a feel for what porcelain tiles are like. As Trev says, the tiles will be of different quality and you need to be sure that you're buying the most appropriate tile for the area you wish to fix it in.

Is it possible to contact the company you're planning on buying from over the internet? Could they give you advice? Perhaps even send you a sample you could try?

I used ceramic floor tiles in my Kitchen and hallway and they do the job perfectly.
