Anyone have any info regarding using steam cleaners as being sold everywhere at the moment on tiles and grout ?
Good or bad ??

I've got one. Used it on my beige grout in the kitchen floor, which had turned grey. It worked a treat. You have to keep on top of the steam cleaning though as it won't stop the dirt coming back. I use the nozzle and little brush adaptors that came with mine so you direct the steam and scrub with the brush at the same time.

Just wondering if it could have any long term effect . Such as dissolving the grout or weakening it ??

Hasn't appeared to yet, but I've only done it twice. Will let you know if I see any deterioration.

Steam won't adversely affect a cement based grout at all in terms of mechanical function. It will however soften tubbed grout, epoxy grout and gypsum based grout. Not sure of its effect on non epoxy resin based grouts but I suspect as with most resin products it would soften that too. The resin softening is to do with temperature and assuming no damage is done once it cools it would return to normal.
