soild bed adhesive wall tiles

Can some1 explain what a soild bed of adhesive is on wall and how to achevie it thanks.

Its achieved by using a notched trowel... Coverage of tile must be at least 90% I think.

back skim the wall tile with flat edge of trowel best achieved using a round notch trowel on the wall imo esp on large format tiles

I thought solid bed technique Is different to using a notched trowel.. just reading it in tiling book I bought,, it mentions special trowel used in wet areas.. thanks

Solid bed is achieved by using a notched trowel and makink sure there are no voids behind the tile... But wet area is different to standard wall mate but a solid bed is achieved the same way on walls and floors just bigger trowels.

Also does it matter which way the tile adhesive notches run,, horizontal or vertical. Thanks
