I dont think that customer understands the concept behind ufh. It's not like having an electric heater in the bathroom that you switch on 5 mins before you go in for a bath, they take quite a while to heat up. Well the ones I have had to install do.

Anyway doug good luck and I hope it works out in your favour.

to be honest Neil, I know for a fact that said customers have been very "discount orientated" with previous tradesmen, If they don't pay me my bill and they want a discount, I'm gonna refuse and demand that I'm granted permission to retrieve my "chattels":hurray:

Just say the word Doug and I'll come and give you a hand, hate people like that

yeah doug sounds like this is going to be a bit of chore to get paid,if they understood about ufh, they would realise that it shouldn't be put up to the required heat immediatly, and increased at intervals of 1 degree until they reach the required temperature,as you say they seem very discount orientated and you are included in where they are looking for a discount or even a free job:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

he phoned today! (via voicemail) he's put a cheque in the post for half the bill, but witholding a final payment till he's satisfied with the heat up of the tiles. What he's proposing tho' sounds like twisted logic to me. He wants me to move the sensor closer to the heat mat! I'd like to find the PEI rating of the floor tiles tho' as they were very dense porc and therefore the heat transference would be better achieved if the mat was to run for longer before the sensor probe cut out the heat input:dizzy2: Or have I got it wrong?:mad2:

PEI rating will not hinder the warm up time.......he is pulling a swifty...

Also you cannot move the sensor closer than 50m to the ufh loop ( wire )... or it will not perform to it's maximum..

Agree with Dave. Time to get independent folks in and then charge him for that as well............

this is exactly what I told customer, but he's been given contradictory info:mad2: and as I made the initial error, my input is classed as "flawed"

tell him to give the manufacturer a call and they should say 50mm is the closest. alternatively try putting him onto Peter or if you want i will speak with him. let me know, my number is 07990 512348
