Rubi Tile Cutter Advice Needed

Ok so it's time for a new cutter, I'm a multi trader and most of my business is full refurbs so I fit quite a few bathrooms and kitchen in the year, out of these I must tile 3 or 4 bathrooms and 6+ kitchens a year if I can't get my tiler in or I’m just not that busy.

Anyway with this in mind I need to get a new cutter, I never wanted to spend lots on a cutter as I thought it didn't warrant it, so I’ve been using my little Rubi Pocket Rocket most of the time, but it is starting to get on my nerves and now that I am starting to tile more of these jobs not less like I wanted maybe now is the time to do it.

So which ones would you recommend for the amount I do? Is the star range enough or should I go for the TS-50? I don't mind spending the money as with all tools get the right tool in the first place and it will last you a life time but if the star range is good enough it works out at about half the price

Help please guys

Rubi TR-600S Manual Tile Cutter

The Rubi TR-S tile cutter has good abilities for cutting a wide range of ceramics and most porcelain - Ideally suited for angled cutting and of coarse normal square/straight cutting

The breaking action is engaged by moving the lever on the carriage. The scoring handle then becomes the breaking handle.

- Maximum cutting length: 605mm (24")
- Maximum cutting thickness: 15 mm
- Moving breaking system - great for diagonal cuts
- One piece alloy ruler bar
- Repetitive angular cuts from 0 to 45° both ways
- Sprung base with shock absorption
- Fold out outrigger arms support tile
- Direct view of the cutting and scoring line
- Includes rugged shockproof carry case, 6mm & 10mm scoring wheels and 5 year guarantee

See Rubi's TX-N range for a very similar but extra heavy duty bigger version of this cutter

Dave - You're just cutter happy you are! the smallest size I want is a 50 as i've got in to problems before and had to get the wet cutter out, is the extra money between the TS and TR worth it do you think?

Faith - No I think the nearest one is Chichester 35 miles away

Depends on how big a tile you do....the ts50+ is a cracking cutter...i have one of them as well......

How about one of these if you do not tile a lot and won't break the bank...

Rubi Star-50-N PLUS

Rubi have improved the original star cutters. Mostly buy replacing some plastic component for metal ones

If you are not a full time tiler or are moving into tiling and can't justify the price of the professional ranges then the Rubi Star machines are great.

- Maximum cutting length: 510mm (21")
- Maximum cutting thickness: 12mm (1/2")
- Moving breaking system
- Lateral stop for repetitive and 45° cutting
- Fold out outrigger arms support tile
- Direct view of the cutting and scoring line
- Includes rugged shockproof carry case and 6mm scoring wheel
