Hi guys,
Just been to look at a job and I have been asked to remove a tile with a small crack in it.
It has free wire u/f heating apparently.
I have never had to do this before. I know that the wire is pretty hard wearing but I just wondered if there are any decent ways of getting it up without damaging the cable.

Any help would be appreciated.

There a risk of breaking the wire here which would be a disaster just to replace one tile.

The only thing I can think of is to break the tile up into small pieces and try and get a chisel directly under these bits to try and insure that you don't get a lump of substrate up with the wire in it.
I guess it all hinges on how easy it comes up but of course you wont know that until you start.

I've done it by carefully breaking up the tile first with hammer and bolster , then to get rid of the adhesive I've used the carbide sanding plate ( triangle one ) on my fein. Slow but its safer than walloping the floor.

Diggy

cheers, ill give it a blast. I will try and persuade them against it though. will an alert come up on the stat screen if I nip a wire or anything?? think its a 3ie warmup

if it is a warmpup wired kit and if you break the wire, warmup will come out and fix this so ensure the customer is aware of this.

I think they charge a colossal £270 ish to do this. I could be wrong though...

It's more hassle than it's worth usually. Cable wire systems have halved in the last 10 years. Makes it more per meter in labour pulling it up!
