Came across this product in a tile shop that I was returning tiles that the customer wasn't happy with. On the instructions it recommends tiling directly onto chipboard floors and that there is no need for ply, or backer boards, it's also recommended for porcelain tiles.

Also a couple of pics of the 60 metres of trav I returned, that they were charged £60 a metre for. They had a ridiculous amount of filler and some serious holes in the back. These were a couple of the good ones.....

Typical classic grade. cheap and cheerful..

As for the tile on wood ready mix.. say no more hey!!

I went into a shop last month where they were tiling the upstairs showroom, it was straight onto the original 100 year old floor boards and they were using a ready mix like that one.
Nothing was going to change his mind and it was very expensive as well, £65 a tub.

stewart....if that is narcross direct to wood i used some last week, its not ready mixed if you open the bucket up theres a liquid and powder in there that you mix together.... same as the bal fast flex.

I couldn't sell someone that travvy for £60. CTD do a better one than that for £15.99 + vat

Have another look at that adhesive, its made by Norcross and its got the TTA logo on it!

As for the trav that looks typical of the stuff i have had to fit. Put more addy IN the tile than on the wall

there is worse trav than that on the market (and thats in market leading shops)

The going rate for that tile though would be in the region of £16 - £20sq so they were deffo rippeed off!

I bet the tiles they saew on display were better quality than that
