Hi ,

I've laid some Q rock tiles on a wetroom floor in my own place. They are black. The box suggested they should be sealed. They are textured porcelain so I asked Topps and they stated they didn't need sealing. The floors been down now about 6-8 weeks and they seem to occasionally have a staining on them that needs to be washed off regularly. Is there anything I can use to seal or impregnate them with to combat the staining? I put the biege Q rock on the walls and they were a pig to clean off as well. Even if they are textured should they have been sealed?

Some types of textured ones need sealing as well...because the pattern is just pressed into the tiles body and not an applied finish.....if the tiles wet up when water is on them then they obvisously need sealing....i use lithofin porcelain impregnator.......dave...

Q-Rock tiles from our place are classed as polished porcelain...they must be sealed. The guys at your Topps shop have misinformed you Peter....Fila polished porcelain sealer is required mate....Gaz....any more Topps questions ask me first

Q-ROCK RANGE 30cm x 60cm [] Available in various colours & sizes.

Porcelain is the most durable product available, it looks great as co-ordinating wall & floor, as well as offering the hardwearing qualities that are inherent with porcelain. Paired with glass or stone pieces for decoration a sophisticated look can be achieved. Topps range is diverse and offers various colours, sizes & styles. it can be used in all areas of the home.
Ask in store for products for outdoor use.

There is a definate problem with these Q rock tiles.I have recently laid approx 80m2 over 3 jobs. There is a film on the tile and i have had this confirmed from Topps who are looking into this for me.If you get a tile straight out of the box and rub it with your fingers it leaves a white residue that at the moment nobody seems to have the answer to a)why it appears and b)how to get rid off.Topps guy told me that a sealer was put on to prevent scratching in transit. They have already received complaints and to be fair to them have got straight back to me as they realise this could be a big problem giving the amount they sell

I agree eith this.I too have recently laid a lot of q rock beige and black and getting the grout off has been a real problem.I have tried all kinds of cleaner and tried sealing them first but to no avail.I have stopped buying them which is a shame because 1) they look good 2)they are cheap 3)they will last forever. If topps come up with any problem with them i would like to know as my store is still pushing them

Hi fellas.

You've got me worried!

I've ordered 33 sq/m of Q rock, 30x60, black & ivory from Homebase (30% off).

I plan to do the kitchen & hall and then place the same tiles onto the downstairs toilet walls.

I want to use a charcoal grout as I think this will set it all off better, or am I being silly?

Anyway, will the grout stain the tiles, especially the ivory?

What do you experts recommend I should do before I make a right mess of it?

Also, who makes the Q rock? and couldn't they give some advice?

Many thanks.

i have found that if you clean as you go with diluted residue remover extra strong they are ok did approx 55 mts in a showroom no probs:smilewinkgrin:
