Hi gents,

laying porcelain tiles on concrete and self levelled floor customer asked me if they could have the tiles butted up together i told her it shouldnt be done , so she asked me to put them as close as i can. Now i normally use a 5mm grout line on floors , am i right in saying the minimum you should go down to is 3mm? any advice greatly appreciated.

hiya ted, 3mm is the recommended for flooring, any smaller and it becomes more complicated ie; expansion, and tolerances on the floor tile sizes...Gaz

I would stick to 3mm to be honest.

I personaly don't think floor tiles should be any closer, no matter how much the customers like what they see in the showroom or the brochure.

I tile 600 x 600 most of the time if they are rectified we have to put a 2mm joint :pete
