hi guys

i am going to do my first mosaic job at the weekend tiling a kitchen splash back what is the best way to cut the tiles they are 2 x 1 inch also any other advice on mosaic tiling would be a great help

Depends on what they are made of, if natural stone wet saw with white cement adhesive, grout straight away.
Ceramic, White tub gear,cut on dry cutter, trowel also depends on how thick, use the appropriate depth so as adhesive wont come through, pad them down with your grout float to ensure an even surface, space by eye so that the whole lot looks like one sheet

Any dips or swoops or hollows in the walls,mix up some rapid set or feather finish before tiling,building out with adhesive is a messy job when it squeezes out of joints.

if they are thin shi-t use fix and grout(i know yuck)grout float to push them home sponge in hand

and this is the only time i use f and g
no good as an adh no good as a grout but good for mozzys

F & G ERRRRRRRR takes years to set and as grout well.......look at it funny and it stains.Is this a professional forum or what??

If glass remember to open ALL boxes and look for batch shading, use BAL mosaic fix (white) great stuff. cut with 8mm wheel in cutter and use DMT diamond sharpener on edge (machine mart) or diamond block (4 grades) from B & Q £9. Remove and turn all half pieces on external corners. Like licking a 9v battery - people love to run there finger along them!!
