Hi Everyone

My boyfriend is the tiler, I am the "administrator"! He offers a full tiling service throughout Kent, Sussex and London and the business is called Astute Tiling. He has a contract with the kitchen fitting company Dream Doors but like everyone is looking for more work. We are due our second baby in May so I am keen to get him as much work as possible to keep him out of my hair at the minute !!

If anyone has any good ideas for advertising I would be interested as our Friday - Ads, local mags are pretty pants in bringing in the work !!

Thanks guys

Welcome to tilersforums.com astute tiling. Thanks for introducing yourself.

:welcome: - Behind every tiler is a successful woman!
That's a big area to cover with millions of customers so you should get lots of work.
Try not to put all your eggs in one basket and from experience we try and stay away from kitchen companies.
Get some photos in your Albums for people to look at and keep posting!
Enjoy the BEST Tilers Forum.

hi everyone and thank you for your welcomes 🙂 Just wondered John why you say that about kitchen companies? Havent had a problem, so far touch wood and tbh it has been a welcome income whilst things are a bit slow? Am very appreciative of any comments as we are both just learning really -

They/some only include tiling as an add on to hide the bad/chased walls they leave.
Its generally the most time consumming area of tiling to complete and most companies try and price this work up per metre.
They have all the time in the world to do their work but you get rushed to get it finished so they can get the balance of the money which they desperately need and for some reason make you wait for payment.
After you've grouted its your fault there is a scratch on the worktop/cooker/sink/unit/light fitting or whatever - despite the previous trades having never heard of protection.
Whenever I've lost money over the years its 1-Kitchen companies 2- Bathroom companies 3- Shopfitters. And once they can't pay you they just go and look for another tiler.

Back to my previous post - Don't put all your eggs Etc.

:welcome:hope all works out for you, im pretty much in the same boat but noticing things pick up as your name gets round, do a good job and do any "little"😛rrr: extras through a forced smile and it all adds up. anything to make yourself stand out. all the best
