Hi there, very new to the forum so apologies if already answered elsewhere. What should I do in the gap between walls and floor in a bathroom. I have used Baldocer Rapalano Marfil floor tiles (310x310) with grey Bostick flexible floor grout. On the walls I have used Baldocer Rapalano Marfil wall tiles (416mmx300) and Bostik Professional Smooth Ivory. I haven't done the tiles at the bottom of the walls or the edge of the floor yet as I am not sure what space to leave or what to fill it with eg floor or wall grout or even silicon/similar. I have used 4mm gaps on the floor and 2mm gaps on the walls. Also should I butt the walls down onto the floor or floor up to the walls. please help or direct me to where this might previously have been answered.
Many thanks

Use Silicon that is colour matched to your grout, leave a 2/3mm gap between floor and wall and all internal corners to Silicon.

Hi greatsnoring, welcome.

Finish the floor first and leave an expansion gap between the edge of the tile and the wall. Tile down to the floor leaving a 2mm gap. Then run a bead of co-ordinating coloured silicon around the perimeter. All adjoining tiles i.e. corners should have a bead of silicon to allow for any movement.

Many thanks to both of you, one further quick follow up - would you use grey or ivory on the join (i have used ivory on the walls and grey on the floor). And finally (!) would you cut the top row of tiles flush to the ceiling or leave a gap the same as your grout gap?

I would personally go with grey where the tiles meet but ask your customer first. Leave a gap between the top of the tile and ceiling and fill with decorators caulk. This can be overpainted whereas silicon will repel the emulsion.

Thankyou to all of you - what a great forum - all my questions answered in under an hour.

i think they are all wrong IMO clear try a little test 2"" of each and show the customer yes the wall tiles should go on top of the floor tiles as the boys say leave a small joint for siicone
(are you not a tiler ?)

Silicon all the way, grout in the internals causes a huge percentage of failiers. The colours are down to how it will look so it is hard to say without seeing the job but try both and then decide which looks best.
