Hi colleagues!
Another question for you especially if you do a lot of natural stone work.
I have a small (3m2) floor to lay with granite tiles (600x300). They seemed to be highly polished so I guess they're factory finished. Do I need to seal them before laying, after laying and before grouting, after grouting, all three, or not at all? The sub. is concrete and flat so I was going to prime with APD first and then use a single part flexi adhesive, 1mm spacers and grey grout.
Any advice and/or info to go along with this would be gratefully recieved.
Regards
JIm

i always seal polished grnite with lithofin stainstop. i would normally use rapid flex adhesive with flexible grout. if its an old floor i doesnt need priming but if you have the primer there is no harm in using it

hi jim ..use a penetrating sealer and just apply once before grouting no need for any more make sure you wipe any excess off before it dries...i would recommend lithofin kf impregnator........dave..

Thanks for your help chaps.
Dave - when you apply after fixing and before grouting do you need to be careful about over-doing it? Also do you just brush it on or use cloths/rollers.
Thanks again,
Jim

Did granite floor in black for a builder when I started out. Gave me white addy and no sealant. Of course it came though and all clouded. Builders..............

Then he tried to blame me when it all went pear-shaped..................

I personally wouldn't bother to seal before I grouted.Depends on how confident you are.Having said that I very rarely seal limestone or travertine floors before I seal them either. After grouting I would put 1 coat of Lithofin Stainstop on polished granite with a lint free cloth. If screed is fairly new I would probably seal with primer.Older floors I wouldn't bother.Use single part flexible adhesive.

i layed some granite tiles in my kitchen the other day. i remember reading on the site i brought them off no need to seal them

they are black polished granite tiles

would you guys recommend sealing them.. also i have already grouted

Hi silent!! I would try a tile in a corner somewhere, coat it with sealer and see if it soaks in if it does do the whole floor mate
