Hi all,

First time poster here!

I had my bathroom and ensuite tiled in the summer, but where the wall tiles meet the floor tiles, previosuly it looks like the gap was simply grouted. Now it is craking in certain places.

He is omcing back to look at at it and I wanted to know what the options are, he suggested a skirting which would look naff, or some type of trim?

I reckon it should all be removed and done again..... Please can you guys help in suggesting what would be suitable and practical, as searching on trims, they tend to need to go behind the tile...

Many Thanks All

welcome to TF uncleg, where the wall and floor tiles meet, it should have a silicon bead, about 5mm thick. Grouting it will always result in cracking:thumbsup:

Thanks Doug.

Would you then grout over the silicon bead, or just leave it? Apologies if its an obvious question!!

Thanks again!

What you need to be telling this "tiler" is that you want the cracked grout removed and replaced with a Silicon sealant to your colour choice. If he regrouts then it will crack again. Do not grout over it, it wont stick anyway.

Many Thanks for you help. Assuming any Silicon sealeant will do, well a good quality one at least?

Cheers

and if that is not enough for your tiler , B&Q do Buildfix ( Mapei ) Silicon in iirc 6 or 7 different colours , i used it in my kitchen and found it excellent and not badly priced at around £7 / tube

uncleg - the Silicon you need will have 'bathroom spec' or 'anti black mould' or something like that written on them. they cost a few pounds more than a normal white low modulus Silicon (that stuffs only good for sticking double glazed windows in). Each 310ml tube will cover about 8metres linear edge, so you probably only need a couple of tubes.
