Hi all,

Ive been asked to retile a fireplace for a customer who already has the new tiles. Im going to have a look at the fireplace and tiles on friday, is there anything i should be looking out for ( common pitfalls etc ). Customer wants me to tile over the existing, not keen at all on that idea but get the feeling that if I insist on removal of old tiles he will get someone else that will tile over.

Im thinking single part flexible bagged adhesive and grout or do I need something more specialist for the fire place?

I would use SPF bagged adhesive too, and if you have to go over existing tiles , then I would give them a good scrub with sugar soap first, then scratching them up for a better key, also stagger existing grout lines,

I'll know more on friday when I've seen the fireplace and tiles so may be back then!:thumbsup:
