electric vs water UHF which is the warmest?

hi new to this site stumbled on it and seeing if its ok seems good right my question is UHF which is the warmest to the touch between underfloor water pipes or electric? also anybody any idea how much electric versus pipe cost are would appreciate any info many thanks

Hi,

Should be no difference in temperature between wet or electric ufh. Both will be controlled by thermostats which will regulate the temp.

With regard to cost, electric would normally work our less expensive to buy / install.

Running costs will depend on the insulation in the house. There are many different electric ufh solutions available but if you compare electric cables in a 50-70mm screed and water pipes (gas heated) in the same screen then with todays energy costs the will be about the same.

Both wet & electric operate using different zones for each area of the house. Wet use a combination of manifold & thermostats. Electric will just use thermostats.

Most thermostats are intelligent now so they work out the timings for power to applied to the heating so all you have to do is set the temp that you want and when you want it.

There is heating up / cooling down times assoicated with wet & electric systems installed in a screed but this is not a issue if you want the system to act as primary heat. The principle of this heating is that you set a comfort temperature for when you want heat and a set-back temp for all other times. This is so the thermal mass of the screed is never lowered too much.

We use an electric in-screed system in our 80m2 office, typically the floor will be charged for between 3-7 hours during the night and this provides was with heat for the entire working day. Obviously this charge is on cheap rate electric and thus is very economical.

thanks for the replies guys..the reason im asking is the customer wants it as primary heat to replace a radiator. hes a wealthy guy with a very design led house just wanted to know which one i could get the highest temp out of to the (foot) touch its roughly 18m2 i know i should be recommending electric as thats a tilers remit but hes a good customer so would like to get it right i also noticed theres a 100v and a 160v type floor matting so i presume the higher rating one? also its got 600x600 tiles with 2mm spacers also anybody got any good ideas on which brand? and good supplier? many thanks

I'd be tempted to go for a bigger joint myself, as there is heating involved.
