Hi All. I have a victorian floor to lay in a hallway . Already down is a wooden Parquet floor. Would it be ok to use an uncoupling mat on top of these so I can lay the tiles. I am thinking durabase or mapei. It would be hell of a job raising the Parquet. If any of you guys know I would appreciate advice. Thanks.

I would say no ,
Parquet normally comes up easily as the glue is normally dead , also you get the benefit of not having a higher floor level .
You have the chance to fix to a solid floor ensuring years of a trouble free installation, why risk it .

Be a very expensive risk that neither you or the client should be taking. Get it up and prepped properly.
Also, you'll find it easier with a non cavity mat if you're using one with Geo stuff

I will definitely rip the parquet up as I have found it is damaged in places. Like you say start from a solid foundation. Thanks for your replies guys , what a great forum this is .

A cavity mat like Dural is unlikely to be suitable for a geo floor, there are tile size limitations due to point loading issues.
An antifracture mat, is a far better option.

An exposed timber floor can breath. Once covered it cannot and will tend to move more, and even blow off the floor due to potential expansion.
