4th call this week from members of the public doing major jobs themselves including two doing lots of new electrical work and wanting me to supply them with a sparky who will sign the work off for them, :yikes:,i spoke to a mate about this and hes had a number as well in the last month doing the same,,,are any of you guys/gals coming across this...i know more peoiple are doing diy due to the current climate

I've had peeps get me round for a quote and quizzed me about how to do the job, then they've done it themselves, and that really annoys me. If they were straight with me and called if I could have a look and offer advice, I would no problem. It's when they get you round on a pretence:mad2:

Strange you mention this as my mate who's a sparky was saying just yesterday that he has been getting loads of calls asking how to do things :mad2:

I'd be inclined to say some thing like "I'd love to help, but for insurance purposes, I'm not allowed to give advice over the phone or on jobs that I'm not involved with. I'm quite happy to come round and assess your requirements and provide a no obligation quotation."

as it happens i went to a local school yesterday to price a job, they contacted me via my website and booked me in aty 12.15 as she said this was her lunch hour and the only fre time she had...no problem so i gets there at 12 ,introduced myself to the secretary who called the lady direct and spoke to her direct and she said she would be down in 5 minutes.

1pm came and a teacher came over after the receptionist had spent 30 mins looking for this phantom lady who never appeared and advised me that the lady i was to meet for the job was busy in the middle of her lunch and would i like to come back at 3pm:incazzato:😛rrr::mad2: you know what two words she received...thats the end of my rant folks honest :drool5::lol:

That's one reason I stopped advertising in local papers, guys asking how much a m2 and jobs that were prepared so badly and they thought the son had done a fantastic job:incazzato:
