Hi,
I have tiled several hundred square metres of tiles, wall and floor, over four houses and never had any problems..until now.
I recently decided to tile an ensuite. The surface was osb and the floor has a run off.
I laid backerboard onto the osb for a nice surface.
I decided to use two bags of good quality powdered flexi floor adhesive. They were stored dry in my shed for about 18 months.

The problems.
Where the tiles were laid with a light bed the adhesive is dry but crumbly. Where I had to use a thick bed (floor run off) the adhesive is still spongy after two days. I think the hardener died in the shed.
The tiles are solid and stuck to some extent i,e, they don't move.

My 64 thousand dollar question... will i have to pull them up?

I think the sensible thing would be to remove the tiles and retile with an adhesive which is within its use by date.

Thanks for getting back to me.
That's the advice i was fearing! Has the hardener expired? Do you think the adhesive will compress and break the tiles eventually (this is what I think could happen)?

You would need to talk to the maker of the adhesive for such technical advice. It "may" set and be fine but then again it " may " fail .

Thanks again.
I am trying to make my brain do the right thing (retile). Its just taking a while to get over the psychological bridge!

Wot make of addy?

at least if it's an en-suite......it won't be a massive area.
Probably have to cut ya losses and re-do.
