Buying some new tools :)

just purchased one of these at a great price

and i thought why not upgrade the old washboy. The rollers in my old one are getting pretty stiff, so I thought why not 🙂

Looking forward to getting the wet cutter. Dave says its pretty close comparison to my old plasplugs, and the standard blade is better etc. Roll on Tuesday and thanks Dave @ Tradetiler!!

to be honest dave,
i am keeping the a few bits to do the odd floor thats worth my while. the moneys better in the bank than the garage and i am really putting alot into this new business, so if i return to tiling, it wont be for at least the next 10 years unless something out of my control affects that decision.....

Looking at that new vitrex 750, its so similiar to the Plasplugs machine i have its uncanny. I am just wondering if this could be the answer to the age old problem with the plasplugs machine ,that of the sliding fence with the two knobs to tighten it down. I dont suppose you know if the guide fence assembly could be bought sepperateley as i would be very keen to buy one .

i think it's a great chance for someone who doesn't have the money available to splash on quality tools to get there hands on some top quality merchandise that will only improve there business.

Bolter - Good luck with the new tools. However, as the owner of the Vitrex 750 wet cutter you are getting, I have some reservations about it:

- The supplied cutting blade is not very good - I quickly binned it for a diamond blade.
- The cover to minimise water splash back is badly designed on a L-shaped thin metal bracket - it bends too easily and causes problems cutting tiles (when your cut tile needs to pass the guide plate).
- The straight cut guide broke after 2 uses - I was able to fix it by using a split pin.

Overall it is not a bad buy for the money - but I would not class it as a professional quality tradesmans product, but then again a Ruby wet cutter can cost over £300 - pays your money you makes your choice!

Guys I didnt mean Aston's tools were old and worn out. You have all read between the lines and come up with something thats not there.

Andy, thanks for the input. I will put it through its paces, and its only going to be used for general tiling. Our firm has larger wet wheels for different jobs. I will let you all know 🙂

Just double checked cause you are worrying me, but it comes with a diamond blade which Dave @ tradetiler thinks its better than the plasplugs blades, which is good enough for me. In any case this model has a reversible flange which allows 22.2mm bore blades, so I can put most blades on if I get any probs. All in all, looking forward to getting it 🙂

I did not buy my Vitrex cutter from Trade Tiler - if he is giving you a diamond blade then thats a big bonus. 22.2mm blades are fine with the cutter (my diamond blade has 22.2 bore). Have been using mine for about 3 months and the benefit of having a wet cutter at this price has saved me a lot of grief.
