Just a quick question.

I've built an ensuite onto the side of my house with a concrete floor, we were going to step down into the room but I have decided to lift the floor by 4" by screwing 4"x2" battens down and then boarding over them to tile onto. How much should I space the battens by and what should I board it with? I have been told WBP ply and chipboard by different people. I am tiling with travertine by the way, also would BAL flexible be a suitable adhesive?

Thanks Mart

Hi Mart,welcome to the forums,
Screw your timber at 300mm centres and put pieces across at 300mm. Then screw down 25mm wbp plywood down at the same centres and use 2 part flexible adhesive and flexi grout....Gaz

You will need to seal the edges and the underside of any timber you put down. Personally I would put water resistant chipboard and over board with 6mm hardy backer glued and screwed.

id be tempted to use a birdseye potato waffle with corned beef ontop but thats mainly because im hungry
