Best hand held cutter

Hello in the process of weighing up the pros and cons of the 2 hand held wet saws on the tradetiler site . The MAKITA POWERSAW or the DEWALT 410 , the makita has a larger blade and a longer hose but the dewalt seems to be more powerful and cheaper ! I would appreciate any feedback on these tools

Hi Alex, i bought the 410 a while back and it was ok for what i needed it for 600x400x15mm Limestone, the blade isn't all that good it didn't leave a clean cut but my cuts were all hidden under the skirting so it was ok. its one of those bits of kit that i'll probably only use once in a while but it saved a lot of time and effort, i was tiling an ensuite in an attic conversion with no room for a table saw so i just used the 410 right outside the ensuite so no need to run up & down stairs all day long
TOP TIP i attatched the water pipe to a plastic petrol can and sat it on a ladder which gave a good enough "gravity fed" water flow, i also used a water spray bottle to wet the tile 1st because the water is fed to the rear of the blade and chucks up a bit of dust before the water feed hits it.
Sorry can't tell you any thing about the Makita.

I have the Makita and it is a very good cutter. I use mine 2 or 3 times a week for removing damaged tiles and wouldnt change it for anything else.

im looking at one of those dewalt ones too as to many sites im on now are not letting us use am angle grinder without dust extraction time i bought a 110v hoover and extractor would mabye work out the same if someone has one wouldnt mind a review on it if they didnt mind

I was toying with the idea of these recently but I went for a top quality variable speed 4.5" makita grinder.
With a quality blade the edge is fantastic. Low vibration and speed control means very neat cuts.

I find that long straight wet cuts can be avoided or worked around in the main.
If I really need to wet-cut, I can flip them on my bridge saw.

Thanks for these comments . Im going to give the Dewalt 410 a miss for a bit . Have enough tools that come out of the van rarely and believe that with a large format cutter , bench saw and angle grinder maybe this bit of kit isnt needed just yet . Do not want to purchase just for removing grout

bought the dewalt 410 for some 1200mm x 600mm full bod porcelain .attached the hose to a water pump (£30)
and put a marcrist blade in after destroying the blade that comes with it and it is fantastic - hot knife though butter !
can`t recommended highly enough
