Hi everyone, got a couple of questions regarding the job i`m currently doing:

1. Laying ceramic floor tiles onto existing vinyl tiles, i`ve removed the loose ones and i`ve painted neat SBR onto the remainder.I did this at 6.00pm this evening.I want to lay the tiles at about 10am tomorrow, is it ok that the SBR has been down this long prior to tiling?

2. I`m grouting with BAL Superflex wide joint in ivory and laying the tiles with Bal rapidset flexi (white). I think it says the tiles should be set in 3 hours. Am i ok to grout after this with the ivory coloured grout or does it require longer for the adhesive to fully dry out?

Cheers!

Nothing wrong with that Turk, just ensure solid bed of adhesive, and clean your joints as you are tiling...post some pics...Gaz

SBR onto vinyls needs to tiled within 24hrs..so as gaz sez you are fine.........
Go for it.........

That was weird!! i posted that without meaning to!!!! It`s been a long day!! I would post some pics but i`ve tried to put pics on here before but can`t get them resized small enough. It`s only a small downstairs toilet anyway so not too impressive but cut tile after cut tile!

Thanks again!!

Here's some useful info turkish mate......

PRIMING AND SEALING
Apply BAL BOND SBR direct and undiluted

to existing vinyl floor tiles. Provides a priming coat for the direct

fixing of ceramic tiles with BAL cementitious adhesives.

to the edges and reverse faces of sheet and board backgrounds

prior to fixing ceramic wall tiles with BAL ready-mixed adhesives.
Minimises distortion from atmospheric changes.

to concrete floors to provide a dust free surface. For particularly

dusty or porous surfaces prior to ceramic tiling, dilute 1 part
BAL BOND SBR with 4 parts water.
Brush apply over the surface to be treated and allow to dry. When
used as a primer do not allow to dry for more than 24 hours. Timber
must be free from surface treatments prior to the application of
BAL BOND SBR. Lay ceramic tiles in accordance with BS 5385
Parts 1-4 and the relevant BAL product data sheet.

Regarding above, i used the SBR neat on the vinyl tiles after washing them clean with sugar soap and allowing them to dry. Went back next day and it had formed a skin which peeled off in places like skin does after being sunburnt (sorry couldn`t think of a better explanation), what went wrong? (And no i didn`t use WD40 on it!!!....he he)
