Advice with large format tiles

Went to measure up a job the other day only a small bathroom and the customer has had a plumber in to fit new bath,sink and toilet and wants 400x300 tiles. Now the sink and toilet are really close together and i can see it being a right pain cutting this size tiles round to fit behind what would you all suggest? If using templates what material would you use? thought about just removing the sink and toilet enough just to fit the tiiles behind would leave a better finish hay

If your are not competent to take them out , then loosen them off enough to tile behind..........try to make it easier for you........good luck...

I would definetely remove them if possible,or tell her to get the plumber back to do this then have him fit them again!!
If you have floor to do too this would leave you in a better position to finish the job quicker.Otherwise if not removing the loosen from wall the toilet and basin enough to let you slip the tile or enough of it down the back and in at the sides which means you wont have to cut curves with template etc.

Thanks for the advice guys. I have got the floor to do to i think i am going to remove the toilet and sink enough to slip the tiles behind give it a better finish.

I agree with hillhead: I am sure you can remove a sink and a toilet but it is the plumbers work and guarantee, not yours !

The customer has bought the tiles 250x400 which is the best size trowel to use for these tiles? Its a domestic shower area and i am using BAL rapid set adhesive

I'd probably use a 6mm square notched trowel. If the walls are perfectly flat, and the tiles are good n flat as well, it might be possible to get good coverage with a 4mm square notched. The adhesive needs to be of a variety which gives good coverage easily then as well.

It's safest to use a 6mm trowel though.

i alwase find that with removing the basin then tiling behind leaves me with a problem with the waist pipe being to short to fit the trap ! also leaves me with a problem of leaky pipes that i would have to put right! anyone else have this problem ?

Just pull the waste pipe back through the wall from the outside there is generally plenty sticking out.
If you have any leaks call a plumber.
