tile adhesive
Porcelain tiles or ceramic tiles are porcelain or ceramic tiles commonly used to cover floors and walls, with a water absorption rate of less than 0.5 percent. The clay used to build porcelain tiles is generally denser. They can either be glazed or unglazed. Porcelain tiles are one type of vitrified tiles and are sometimes referred to as porcelain vitrified tiles.
Historically, porcelain was not the usual material for tiles, which were much more often made of earthenware (terracotta) or stoneware. The first porcelain tiles were made in China, for example in the 15th-century Porcelain Tower of Nanjing (now largely destroyed). Here the tiles were used for walls, which long remained typical. In Europe, a few rooms were made in palaces of porcelain plaques, often with forms in high relief. These were made by Capodimonte porcelain and Real Fábrica del Buen Retiro among others.
Although porcelain has now been widely used for making tiles for many years, modern production methods and quantities have made porcelain tiles available for the average householder in recent years.

I am tiling my bathroom, hallway and kitchen. I've had blown screen throughout, mostly because of an old Gas pipe which had rusted. It had blown the screed and it just came up in sheets.
It's an 1950's bungalow with no...
Hi Everyone,
I recently moved into a new property and I have a tiled floor and hallway. Some of these tiles are loose and cracked so I've removed the grouting and loosened the tiles out with the aim of putting some new adhesive down and replacing the tile.

Hi everyone
I've a few refurbishment projects upcoming that will include floor and wall tiling and as it's not something I do very often I thought I'd register here to fill the gaps in my knowledge. So hello.

Metro Tiles Delivered tomorrow.. I’m doing ‘tile on tile’ and chose the Mapei Ultimate Super Grab it seemed to tick all the boxes when I looked at it in B&Q however I’ve got home and looked at reviews which are more negative than positive. Does anyone have any experience with using this adhesive?
Can anybody please help, we are removing the tiles from our kitchen wall and cannot remove the tile adhesive! We are trying to chip away at it, it’s quite thick but just won’t budge, we want to paint it afterwards.
can anybody recommend something to remove thick tile adhesive. Thank you!
Hi guys, I'm a homeowner and a DIY enthusiast. I have two small areas to tile. A front hall and a pantry area. Ceramic tiles (small) and using Ditra matt. Both areas are over concrete. From my research online they say it is important to use unmodified mortar. I live in Dublin Ireland. Any advice...
Hello everyone,
I would like to know how to decide which tile adhesive based on its tensile bond/pull off strength corresponds to which size of tile.
For example, if I would like to install 30*60cm wall tile, tensile bond/pull off strength of tile adhesive needs to be higher than kgf/cm^2 at...
Hi
I am renovating my house here in Italy, in the spring I took up the existing floor screed on the first floor and have installed a wet UFH system.
This was screeded using a self-levelling cementitious product from Fassa Bortolo called SA500. The screed was laid on the 23rd May to a thickness...
Just found this video and wondered if your tile coverage is better than his?

And then there's this guy.
Who is using lash clips. I thought they helped get a more even coverage by pulling the tiles together.
Did he need more water in his mix so it became a bit smoother? I know...

Hi All,
I am tiling onto some wedi concrete foam boards and I am having issues spreading the grout. When spreading the grout quite often it will drag and leave gaps in places instead of going on smooth. It will often take several paces until I get a satisfactory result. If I re-do a pass it...
As a City and Guilds trained tiler who was taught hand fixing s/cement,( ah those were the days) could somebody tell me
