Who glues their cement board?

Iv been taught to glue cement board then screw it, but lately made friends with a couple of tilers and they just screw it? What do the proper tilers do?

The only time I just screwed backerbaoards down was while in Australia back in 2002. I always use tile adhesive or the special glue provided.

I always glue and screw. However, Hardie say the adhesive is to fill voids (ie in cupped s/w t&g) but I've previously asked the question 'why glue when you're overboarding perfectly flat chipboard' and I've yet to get an answer from them.

You can't argue with the added strength of the adhesive either. It'll tighten up a floor nicely, possibly just James Hardie covering their backsides.

The tilers that I know that just screw say if you make the floor before the cement board stable enough it shouldn't make a difference, and that they are just using it as a simple replacement for ply which they wouldn't glue.

I don't like your tillers :incazzato:
