Looks like im in the market for a new one. What you got ? could do with one that has a bit more guts than ya standard Henry !!!

Can't go wrong with a Henry , got one given to me 5 years ago buy a customer who had a weird obsession with collecting hoovers and its still going strong!

I got a wet and dry vac from wickes. Cheaper than a henry, but is excellent with lots of suction. It was about £37 and has been going strong for a couple of years now.

As boring as it may sound discussing vacuum cleaners i invested quite a bit of dosh in to a Numatic, which are commercial side of the Henry type vacuums. They've got a slightly wider hose for gobbling up more cack, and i bought a 6m long one so that the vacuum doesn't need to be dragged around behind you everywhere, a reusable bag and some decent filters.
I can't remember the model i think it was the 570 on this link, basically it's got two Henry motors in it, so it's a beast!!!
A good vacuum is worth it's weight in gold, no more sweeping and kicking up dust, it takes seconds to tidy up the work site and the customers actually think you are a god for being tidy.
Here's a link for the chap i used in Brum, i had a wonderfully dull yet strangely fascinating conversation with him about vacuums!!!!

The Numatic NVQ and NVDQ Quiet Vacuum Cleaner Range for noise sensitive areas

It's not small, but i use it all the time.

Have you thought about a dust extractor rather than a tradtional vacuum?

On the subject of the Wickes wet and dry, a mate of mine that works with me from time to time has one and after taking the mick about him buying his tools from Wickes I have to say i've eaten my words, fantastic bit of kit for so little money, he's used it for all sorts of crap (in every meaning of the word!) over the years and it's still going strong but even if it did pack up, you can't complain for the money. I'm certainly thinking of getting one to add to the arsenal.

I have a bosch GAS 50 110v its a decent wet and dry vacuum but bags are expensive but it has self cleaning filters so it can be used for dust extraction when cutting , going to buy a pre seperator/ash collector from machine mart which attaches in-line on the vacuum pipes the up rates the dust extraction of even a cheapo hoover for when you are doing surface prep work

I recommend nilfisk multi30 wet and dry I have got one would not change for any other vacuum has got power take of is well

Henry takes some abuse. There's a reason why every cleaning contractors in the country use them.

Bought a spare one last month from a liquidation sale for £20. Couldn't believe it, second hand ones tend to still get £40 or £50.

Used a GAS50 before and they're definately what to go for if you're doing a lot of grinding etc, the Henry just clogs up after a while.

Numatic Henry for me too. The good think about it is my Mrs has a standard Henry but the bags are the same so when I run out, I nab hers lol
