Hi, shower is 1100x700, mainly aquaboard and a bit of normal plasterboard skimmed.

How does the tanking work ? the boards sit on top of the edge of the tray @ the mo.

What should i buy and what are my options ?

Thanks 🙂

hi mate
just tape aquaboard joints with tanking tape, Silicon gap between shower tray and aquaboard, for pasteboard use first primer and then apply PCI Lastogum tanking system, or Bal wp1 waterproofing coating, and will be ready to tile
Good luck ! :hurray:

If I've got to be honest Lee mate, I always think it's a waste of time and money tanking a shower that has a normal resin tray  If the boards are fitted close to the tray and the joint is siliconed prior to tiling and after tiling you'll be fine  Use a good qality Mapei adhesive like Keraflex or P9 but prime the plastered walls first with Mapei Primer G then grout with Mapei Ultracolor. Make sure the wall tiles come down on top of the tray and leave a 3 - 4mm joint between tile and tray to be siliconed after grouting. Also leave the internal corners open for Silicon as well:thumbsup:

I tend only to use tanking on problematic substrates and wetrooms - to me specifying to tank normal showers is just a money spinner for tanking manufacturers:thumbsdown:if yours is mainly aquaboard you're laughing mate:lol::lol:

For what these kits cost it is always worthwile IMO, some people spend more on a loo roll holder

If you insist  the Mapei one is good also PCI do a kit that is good. The BAL one is no different to these and a lot more dosh:thumbsdown: I'm using a Sovereign one tomorrow so I'll let you know what that one is like:thumbsup:

If you use the dunlop system don't use the tape that comes with it will be expensive.

Go to Halfords and look for the fibre glass repair section, pick the fine one, it comes in a m2 and costs about £3.50 and almost exactly the same.

Cut into strips to cover your joints with the dunlop system
