if it an area were its not decorated (beneath the worktop/ behind the untis) its not huge issue but, to overcome this you cut a fillet of timber and put it behind the plaster board so that half is behind the existing plaster board and half will be behind the new.

You screw into the timber through the existing plasterboard, this will hold the timber in place. When fitting the replacement plasterboard you will now have something to fix to.
 
The tiles have been gloss painted, so need to come off anyway.....Not a suitable substrate to tile too.....:thumbsup:
 
cut out the patch peice in the new timber I use 2x1 or 3x1 peices of pine

Am with all the boys strip those tiles off. I find a four inch razor scraper really good for getting rid of old adhesive

If you look at the right hand side of the patch I have cut out here you can see the peice of timber that I have patched in.

The timber on the left is the stud
