wall repair

Customer removed some old tiles from bathroom wall leaving what now looks like a large map of europe in the plaster!
Looking for best method for fixing. I have trimmed back the loose plaster and was thinking of priming and feather edging some rapid set. Any use?

Just top coat of plaster really that has been removed Dave. Bonding coat exposed, acrylic primer do the job before rapid set?

Yes..prime to stop ettringite reaction between the gypsum and cement in the adhesive.......i often use one coat ( white in colour ) from B&Q and dries like bell metal ...( rapid setting as well).......

Was looking at the one coat stuff today but wasn't confident with regards to priming (still acrylic on the bonding coat?) or setting times prior to tiling. Thats why I was going down the rapid set addy road.

If only 3mm in depth I use drylining cement it gose off with in 20mins so shouldnt hold you up if done first.

Thin coats will set in no time...next day if deeper......

plasterboard adhesive is gypsum based so no probs with a reaction and it dries very hard but is very porous and dusty as well so needs a couple coats of primer once dry..

I would have primed with pva,carlite bonding and then primed with evo-stik primer 918 or scrape the walls back to the float coat depends on the size of the job

Prime then plaster with rapid set. Then from bottom up use feather edge to get nice even wall. When pulling FE up the wall move it slightly from side to side, this will gave a better finish.

After you have plastered go back and check periodically to make sure the rapid set is not slumping/sagging , if so simply use your FE to flatten again.
