Hi everyone. I'm a professional tiler and have many year experience. Recently I have been using Dura base uncoupling membrane were I brought it by the 30m2 roll . I've had 2 fails on Bathroom floors when using dura base were the grout is cracking.. I'm also a member of the TTA which they have been in contact to myself warning us fixers about bad uncoupling membranes.. Not good

Nope there are a few threads on the subject here, a few members have had similar issues not only with Dural either.
I think the issue has been sorted and if you are using Dural it should be the Dural Ci+ the one with the cloverleaf pattern and green stitching.

I heard recently about a Ditra issue but I dont think it was the same problem. Dural, Genesis G Mat had issues.

It was with the old style matting and not the new Dural Ci++...

Have you just been installing the matting straight onto floor boards or chop board etc..?

Hi Sir Ramic

You have replied to a few of my posts in the past and reading the one on Uncoupling membranes I have a question: I have just installed 18mm WBP on new joists in a bedroom that is being converted into an en-suite. The house has previously had some movement and has been underpinned 10 yrs ago. However, there has been some ongoing movement, since the house was underpinned and although this is very slight, I am conscious of the fact that this will happen in the future.

Can you advise what you would do to the floor prior to the 10mm porcelain tiles being laid. I was contemplating using 6mm Hardie together with a 'tanking' matting but i sense that I need something more 'flexible' to allow for any future movement. There will also be underfloor heating going down.

Could you advise how best to proceed here?

Many thanks.
