I used to do it in my early twenties. It takes a lot of bottle.......which I found I was slightly lacking compared to some of the guys.

I'd love to do it, and even just ended up on eBay lmao - typical of me. Nearly bought a bike after that thread with the video's of that scottish guy on a bike (with pedals) riding the top of fences and the likes.

Not got the ajility I used to have but loved BMXing and generally riding crossers on any land I could get to.

I appreciate that you all think he is good but seriously, I dont think you really realise how good these top guys are.
I used to compete in trials and within the AMCA I won Non- Expert 2 years running, Intermediate 2 years running then I was upgraded and I still feel I could have made a real challenge at the Experts but the bike was 4 years old and to do this you do need a new bike. I managed a few wins though and finished up 4th.
I also did some national trials and thats where the difference shows. Mainly the northern lads were head and shoulders above most midlanders due to the rocky terrain and the fact they had more practice ground.
If you could explain the difference between where I was and where this guy is, I would say out of 100 he is 100 and I would struggle even at my peak to even get on the board.
Trials in general isnt the most exciting sport to watch thats why its rarely seen on TV. The video shown is well edited and action packed, most of the time there is a lot of standing around.
Of course you could always go to Motorpoint Arena - Indoor Motorcycle Trials 2011 at Motorpoint Arena on Saturday 8th January 2011 and have a cracking night out.

I always found the young farmers were the best. They'd been doing it from when they were 6 years old and had the facilities to practice. As you say an operating budget and always having new tyres helped.

Mind you trials bikes have to be the best fun just for messing about too. I had a second hand Montessa 348 back in the time when they still had seats.
