Hi, been using the forum for just a few days now and wish I had discovered you all ages ago! Keep up the good work!
I have a floor to tile and the customer has done his own first fix for shower, sink, WC. Empty room, simple job and a seemingly good price.
The shower tray is on a wooden plinth and he says he is happy for me to just tile up to it. Not done this before and it would be easy to do so, BUT, I wonder what normally happens here? ie, what is usually done to hide the plinth? I know this is his problem but I just want to do a good job and help him out if I can. He wants access to the area under the shower but I get the impression he's not sure yet what he's going to put on the plinth.
Any advice?

if I'm visualising it right mate, I'd let your tiles fly under the plinth and let the plinth sit on top, much easier for access to shower waste etc imo:thumbsup:

That was quick Doug, cheers!
So you suggest I tile slightly under the plinth? I think he may have already allowed for the exact height of the plinth with his shower waste etc.
What usually hides the plinth after tiling? A piece of UPVC to match the shower tray?

Same as Doug, just put some Silicon on the bottom of the plinth/tile to seal
Sounds ideal, very easy, thanks.
The plinth that this guy has built is wooden, very ugly, looks like a pallet. I just wondered if there was a more aesthetically pleasing way to do things but it sounds like this is really something for him to sort out? Would you agree?

could he attatch some skirting or molded upvc from the underside of the shower tray down to the tiles?

Probably. I was thinking that was what he would do but was just wondering about possibility of water getting under the plinth and potentially under my tiling.

It really needs hiding. Plinth looks like he made it from bits of driftwood or maybe discarded boxes from the greengrocer.
that really is his responsibility then Bartlett, you're best concentrating on your side of the project methinks:thumbsup:

I'd be tempted to tile it, like a tile skirting. He'll obviously have access problems, but i think it'd give the neatest finish... If i'm visualising it correctly, that is. 😀

Pull the plinth off and smash it up....tell him it fell off and he didn't fix it very well..hopefully he has no more to replace it and he gets a some propper pvc plinth in white....
