Tiling on painted walls

Before I start tiling
the walls have a rough painted surface going into a shower area.
Shall I score and prime walls first.
customer is a nightmare and is in such a rush,

tell the customer you can not guarantee the work if the shower walls are not prepared properly! NO RUSH or else problems

surely if you have been tiling for 12 years you know what to do ?

scoring the walls will weaken them and under no circumstance would I ever tile onto a painted surface in a wet area. remove the paint, reboard, hack back, replace with cement boards. lots of different options but not to tile onto with a painted surface in a wet area...good luck !

and Camlow thank you so much for your first comment . Yes I have been tiling for 12 years it's just nice sometimes to here what other tilers would do.
