Hi,
Ive been a member a while but this is my first post.
I would like some advice on whether I can tile over polished porcelain as the customer would prefer it if I could do that rather than pull the whole floor up.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Ben.

Hello ben4866, welcome aboard www.tilersforums.com. Stick around, I'm sure you'll like the place. 🙂

:welcome:

I wouldn't do it, how do you know what is under the tiles? what tiles are you laying? is the hight not a problem?

Not really the best of jobs but can be done if............................... tiles are secure, no issues with adding the extra height. Is it a kitchen?

I would probarbly score the surface with a grinder and use unibond pva before using bal or mappei adhesive. However never done it so not sure if it would work!! good luck

Thanks for replies.
The tiles are securely fixed as I only laid them 6 months ago, it's a concrete kitchen floor which I insulated and fitted electric UFH under. The customer has decided to change the kitchen and want to change the tiles to suit (I know what your thinking :yes🙂. So basically the floor is absolutley sound and solid.
Thanks for your advice.

its not really sticking to the surface thats the issue, its how well the first tiles are bonded

it really is best to take up old floor first
