Hi all,

I applied Tile Master PrimePlus Flexible Primer around my bath and sink and for some reason it peels off very easy and has not soaked into the plaster skim so I did not start to tile as I thought it would pull right off with the weight of them if I had carried on.

The plaster skim was done over 2 months ago so its had plenty of time to dry. The area where I applied it was clean and dust free and I followed the following from the tile master site on how to mix.

New plaster must be allowed to dry for a minimum of 4 weeks.
Make sure surface is free of loose dirt or dust. Prime the surface with Primeplusdiluted 3 parts water to 1 part Primeplus, followed by a second neat coat.

I have now peeled it all off the wall and have bare plaster again. So I am now not sure what to try or what caused this.

Not sure what has happened there, I used Tile Master primer on a floor I am on atm for the first time, and I can't fault it. Maybe someone can help explain what could have caused this?

If the plaster was over polished , then the primer will not penetrate, or the dilution was not enough , hence the skinning.

imo , dilute to 4:1 and 2'coats at that . Never neat as it will skin.

This happened to me on top of a Gyvlon screed,
I primed it 3:1 then neat on one part of the floor
Then realised it should only have been a 3:1.
Pulled it all up & redone..

If your walls have been over polished a light sanding with some fine paper should open the surface...

Hi all,

I applied it as a 3 Parts Water 1 Part Primer as per on the bottle for plaster and did brush the area before hand as well then applied a neat coat.

I did apply the first coat as per above 2 days before tiles then the neat coat a day after so they had a night between coats. Is this to long as it does not say how long between coats or if to tile while still wet.

It did not say how long before tilling to apply the primer and how long between coats

Would you say mix it again but to like 4 parts water to 1 part and do a test patch or stick with 3 to 1

Hi Chris, it could be that the plaster has very little porosity and therefore the neat coat just isn't penetrating the surface and adhering as well as you would expect. Given this, if you have removed the neat coat, then I recommend you apply a new coat diluted 3 parts water to 1 part Primeplus and then the surface will be ready to be tiled.

If you would like to discuss this further, by all means give me a call today or Monday, my mobile number is 07957 863357 or if you prefer forward me your number and i will call you

Regards
Mark

You don't get that service from any other company! That's y I use Tilemaster..big enough to cope small enough to care!!!! and made in the UK!

Many Thanks for a great service from Mark at Tile Master who has just contacted me by phone on a Sunday 🙂

After a quick chat he suggested we do a single coat of 3 to 1 about an hour before starting to tile or the night before and no 2nd coat
