So good or bad then..?..
i think that sounds fairly good, but to me you have to stop the water getting in in the first place,i dont have a solution to that but i do believe that in the uk much of what is now available is more about revenue than the real solution

I just think that something needs to change.....how far this change goes then that will need a lot of work.....we are seeing to many failures of installations in bathrooms etc and peeps claiming on house policies for damaged ceilings/walls due to minor water leaks/penetration...from up-stairs.....

keep the suggestions coming please...they are great...

The main problem is, as Wetdec said on the phone to me when I spoke to him about wetrooms, is that we have been demanding more flow rate from our showers.

20 years ago we would be lucky to get 2 litres a minute out of a shower. A few weeks ago I fitted 2 shower panels, each of which deliver 6 litres a minute, and that is relitively low these days.

So we're now getting up to 4 times the volume of water chucked at us when we're in the shower, no wonder things are getting desparate.

the problem what is now called tanking in a shower or bath area probably wouldnt prevent this, new builds for a start move or shrink far too much, also floors upstairs are tiled far too early in new builds imo, without the correct precautions but this should not be a tiler responsibility.

I find it harder to convince plumbers than a customer, I have seen tilers of 30 years plus have leaks which were that bad they travelled to the neighbours house and were solid brickwork which I had to repair the plasterwork, Were not talking just a spot it was serious damage thru the wall over a time:mad2:

Then what solution do you think we could have to this..?

Maybe a set time allowing for shrinkage should be enforced in new builds....

anybody else got any ideas on this theory..?..
