a stone company rang me today offering me some work.

having not done any subbing for a while im a bit out of touch with the prices.

he was looking at £20 to £25 m2 depending on areas to be done and £130 day work, all jobs are stone, fix only subbing to him.

this sound about right.

Re: subcontract work

I'd love a call like that myself, good enough rates for steady work.

Re: subcontract work

Sounds ok to cheap but given the current climate it sounds ok to good, that is depending on what's to be done, if it's big areas then fine, if it's all small and lots of cuts it could be a nightmare, depends on a lot of things really, where you can set up and do your cuts, how many flights of stairs lol

Re: subcontract work

if hes given you the option of daywork and a price depending on job thats a good thing

start as you mean to end with the pricing good luck andy

Re: subcontract work

think stone work should be £40 -£50 m2 in the current climate not a bad offer £650 00 a week take what you can get fix only even better struggle to get £110 a day at the moment plumbers ok though he is only on £200 a day

Re: subcontract work

the guy owns a shop not far from me selling stone, his partner runs the shop and he dose the fixing, but hes a bit snowed under at the momment, its all demestic work and the odd one off builder, he rang me the middle of last week , he want to see pics of my work so i sent him on here to look at my albums, and he rang back today with the offer.

i got a few little jobs to finish, then i will give it a go see what its like

it would be £40-£50 if i was priceing it myself, subbings a different ball game

Re: subcontract work

Andy, its about right in the current climate, but like Alan said you have to see how much cutting is involved. Good luck with it, and bear this in mind, if you think your going to be hanging around waiting for the other trades, you may well be better of on the day rate.

Re: subcontract work

£130 a day? Will that be your take or you got deductions to come off that too? I couldnt afford to work for that.
