Re: subcontract work

i know what you mean mate, i may give it a go and see if i can up rate, its not going to be full time just a fill in between my own work.

got to be better than sitting on my bum.

Re: subcontract work

It sounds good to me for subbing work but is that pre tax or after and what about travel expenses etc and tools. I mean if he is expecting you to wear out your wet cutter he is in fact hiring it. So is the £130 a day for your manual labour ?
Also what would expect done for £130 per day ?

If it were regular work and local using his expensive tools then its a good deal.

Re: subcontract work

£180 PD minimum on day rate....IMO:thumbsup:

But it really depends on what your work situation is like at the minute - beggars can't be choosers:smilewinkgrin:

Re: subcontract work

Think in the current climate it's not a bad offer. Some areas are paying better than others so i'd give it a go. Do maybe 2 jobs for him at that price and seee what they involve. If its lots of cuts and that then ask to up the price. If you don't try it you'll never know.

Re: subcontract work

If its just for you to pick and choose days when you have no work on then thats fair enough

the m2 price aint to bad , but the day rate would be a no no for me , at least you can give it ago nothing to loose is there, good luck hope it works out for u

If it was me I would want more info on the type/ scale of the jobs he passes to you.

For example if its new builds and extentions etc to large high end properties then it would hopefully be large areas (e.g. 20 plus metre floors) so I would opt for smq price and take the odd hit when the small jobs come in which shouldnt be often. On the other hand if its smaller areas like standard kitchens or bathrooms then the day rate may be better as I reckon more could be earned this way.

A friend who is a tiler in my local area got offered similar type of work recently after we laid 600x900 limestone that they supplied. He was offered a sqm price for fixing the stone. The average job was a fair size and most tiles were large 300x600 upwards. All materials supplied e.g. adhesives, grout, mats etc. This was a good deal due to the size of most jobs (big kitchen, hall, conservatory floors before finnsihing trades come in)

Another tiler actualy tried to take credit for this work  and this offer didnt get discussed further.😛rrr:

Ask a few more questions to establish what would be most profitable to yourself mate:thumbsup:
