I am in the process of renovating a victorian house and want reinstall some fireplaces. I would like to have a slate hearth however prices seem extreme high around £150+ for a 54x18inch hearth cut into three parts (solid fuel) and sawn finished, for honed sides and bevelled edges looking at £250+. Having bought slate for other tiling jobs this seems like crazy money for 3 tiles so was wondering if I could get some help sourcing the right sizes, the issue is thickness.

I am looking for two hearts each tiled with three tiles measuring 18x18inches (46ishx46cm) but the tiles need to be at least 20mm+, also would be good to get the sides pre finished and bevelled if not too much extra.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Steve

Thanks for the suggestion however the fire surround is black slate so I am looking for something similar to match. I can easily find honed slate tiles but not in the thickness required, 20mm+ ideally 25-30mm.
