Skirting boards cut or tile against ?

hi guys just wondering what your opinions on this are, this is for floor tiles

do use butt the tile up against the skirting boards

or do u use a multitool and cut out the bottom of the skirting and lay tile under ?

Take skirting off completely and refit afterwards. Saves a lot of hassle.

Realistically people don't want you ripping off there skirting boards. I tile up to them and cut down down frame bottoms or arcatrives.

I always try and remove skirting, but as local tiler said, not everyone is happy with such things so just butt upto. Definitely cut bottom of architraves off tho

Had to price a job where he wanted about 180m of skirting's bottoms cut so the tiles would slide under nicely and there was sockets on the skirting, nobody knew where the wire runs were.

Didn't get the job 🙄

I got a Stanley studs finder Mark, which detects metal and live cables too! Works really well, only bout £30.

I've had a couple of those and not that good, never spent £30 on one though...

pain in the backside with skirtings on, but needs must.
Last 4 or 5 floors ive done have had them fit before tiling.
My favourite was the 130m2 limestone floor, went and priced it befor it was plastered, went to tile it and it was fully decorated with skirtings on 😡😡😡
This one im doing now, they have just had the house fully decorated and re carpeted, now they are redoing the kitchen area last, makes life much more interesting 😉

my present job, 200m2 stone with wet ufh. Chippie wanted to fix all oak skirting first.
no problem I said, I'll put the 10mm expansion joint up to the skirting then rather than hidden under it 😉

Done quite a few new builds were the skirting has just been tacked on (nails not driven through) quite handy, save a lot of time get perfect measurements/cuts and even better for wooden floors as there's no horrible trim...
oh I love doing wooden floors, so quick and clean

Great idea that , its always bugged me that joiners have alsorts of profiles to put up against skirting when putting floors down, and wood is much easier to cut and fit that a blinking porcelain tile .
Think i may want a sample 😉
