Renew Grout - Remove old Grout

Hi Guys

Not been on forum for ages, as I've not really been doing that much tiling recently, so apologies for turning up asking for help.

Anyways. I have been asked to have a look at a shower cubicle. The chap has the idea of instead of re-tiling, it has been suggested to him that he gets someone (moi) to remove the grout and re-grout it.

I have a rough idea of how to do this, either using an angle grinder or my fein multimaster with suitable blade. But thought I'd ask you guys if this is the way to go? Is there a specific grinding tool that I could use for instance?

I've already warned the guy - before I've seen the job, that this is likely to be very time intensive (i.e. expensive) and there is always the risk of nicking a tile.

You will be alright using your fein with the diamond grout cutting blade. It is a very dusty job so make sure you cover everything with sheets, and have the windows open.

as phil says it is a dusty job, but less so if you attach the dust extraction attachment to your fein and ofcoarse a hoover.

Horrible job and rather you than me but with the fein it will be easy enough just bloomn boring. Price it well 🙂

yeah the fein will fly through it but wont make it any less of a horrible job.

I've got the dust extraction kit for the fein and I highly recommend it, doing a re grouting job without it is a nightmare, first one dust got throughout the whole house, fortunately this was for my parents and not a paying customer.

I used the Fein diamond blade and that did'nt fly anywhere
