I have a job to price.

My plasterer says he has a scribbler and it will remove the paint and give him a good key to plaster the walls for me. M
I've never heard of this method. Does anyone have any advice or comments on this method.

I was just thinking of gluing and mechanically fixing 6mm Marmox to the walls after scoring and priming if the tape test reveals the go ahead.

Cheers

Never heard of a scribbler...?.. And why do peeps think that scoring is the way to go on plaster walls..? scoring weakens the surface.

Sanding is the way to go..

Last time I scored a wall was about 4 years ago. Since then I have always had the walls prepped freshly. New boards, fresh plaster etc. life is so much easier !

ive always assumed scoring gives a key however thinking about it I can see how it does weaken the wall.

Sanding is ever so messy, owt wrong with with the mechanical fixing Over painted surface ?

I think a scribbler is used for rendering?

I have heard of a scabbler..

You can fix boards over paint as you will be mechanical fixing..

Lol london accents haha

cool. Cheers Dave. And cheers for the pm reply. Will be ordering one tomorrow.

This stuff is good. FBBLUE10-250x450.jpgused it a few times and really bonds to porus or flakey surfaces.

I wouldnt use it to tile over be frank just interested to have a read of the product info. Was more thinking as a primer for marmox boards onto the painted wall for a better bond ?

MAYBE you or he meant the scabbler?

takes the face off a surface mate, the scutch hammer will roughen up a smooth surface to form a key for plastering etc, and the machine will take out lumps etc on a REMOVED floor, ready for latex / levelling compound.

Quoted from my uncle, J & T Nichols Plastering
