Get yourself a cscs card and Definately try to get labouring with a tiling outfit, college is one thing but on site practical experience (even if it's free labour) will pay you dividends in the future.
i went to hugh baird in Liverpool and they wouldn't allow you to apply for cscs until near then end of the course. Stick with it they will give you a good grounding but it doesn't really prepare you for the outside world. If you can get some work experience it will stand you in good stead
