hi Gazebo
how are you applying the silicon???
its an easy job when you have the knack.

Gazebo, not a good story to read. I'm sure that the Silicon you applied twice is/was a really good job. I've seen cornertape on the counter at Topps. Lovely straight lines, but still quite thick.........maybe it comes in thinner varities too, but I don't know. In theory (I'm sure you know this already), but a Silicon line should be the same thickness as the grout line. I hope you sort this one out to the customers satisfaction. Benidorm is about to start on the TV. So goto go!!

remove the silicon with this tool, then use corner tape, a lot cheaper than 250+

CornerTape do a 4mm kit. Surely that can't be too big?

I met Andy @ CornerTape and he demonstrated it for me and my manager. Wow, it really is good stuff. I made a video of the demo. Sadly, I didn't record it all. But you can still how good it is! I mean, look at how the Silicon was applied compared to the finished job!!

TBH I've seen some of Gazbo's work and it's far from shabby. I'm sure his Silicon is on par with most of us on here. As stated he has done the Silicon twice (How many of us would have made sure the second job was the best of our ability) I have a feeling that Gazebo is being diplomatic with his customer by offering a third party to come in and do the job and as also stated he would pay the cost if it was better than his. <-- That is the most important line of this thread and I'm sure gazebo didn't say that in arrogant way. If the customer had turned part of your work down twice what would you do? Get upset or offer a solution? I think Gazebo is going about this the right way re his customer.

Lmao, id hate to see a whole bathroom done this way.
soooo slow

Thanks Rob, I am sure being far from shabby is a compliment, lol.

If I had large format flat tiles i can Silicon like the best of them.(nice pics dagger)
The point being that they are 2 inch porcelain mosaics with a slightly textured surface, the grout joints are 4/5mm (that is how they are spaced on the netting).being the tiles they were and the grout joints being so large the grout is not flush with the tile surface.

So when you apply your adhesive it is not straight forward. hence why I am seeing if there is anyone out there who specialises in this.
Anyone got any photos of a rough surface mosaic siliconed .???

I am sure corner tape works on your normal tiles, but would it work in this situation, how does it fair on textured tiles.??

And Yes Rob I am being diplomatic with my customer as most would have told them the 1st Silicon attempt was satifactory.

If you know of the Silicon man in question let me know.

Or if you half a day or so to have a go let me know.

The enclosure was lined with aquapanel and jointed, then homelux matting over the aquapanel, as it was so well tanked the customer even asked me if they had to have the last Silicon there. I explained that even tanked down to the tiling upstands on the tray that the final Silicon joint still has a job to do. The door is a nice Matki classica door which needs no frame between the bottom of the door and the tray, but it has 2 wall jambs.

So only 2 vertical joints in the shower, 2 outside the shower, and 3 horizontal on shower tray.

Helpppppp....

Cheers for your support Rob.

Gary
