Hello

I'm half way through doing my bathroom with Kerdi products.

One of the walls will be half tiled and half painted. Reading around Kerdi is no good for taking plaster (it cracks etc) and so you can't really paint on it.

So my plan is to cut it out and put some regular board up so I can get a painted finish.

I'm a DIYer so no idea what the best way to do this is given the huge variety of boards available out there. Just wondering how the experts on here would do this? Just put regular plasterboard up / skim / paint? I know I shouldn't use MR board for this. I can't skim (at least not very well) so maybe there's another option?

Cheers

Balls... just realised my amature mistake is worse than just the one wall.

I have a sloped ceiling on one side with 600mm centre studs. I've put 19mm Kerdi board up all down that run of wall.

My plan was to just tile the part in the shower area and paint the rest 😭

That's a propper balls up

Id be happy to ditch any tiling on that sloped wall if it have me a way out BUT I think I need take down the Kerdi and replace with 15mm plasterboard. That then leaves a transition from 15 to 19mm.. which messed up my tiling options unless I stop dead on the transition, which wouldn't work anyway.

So is my only real option to take down the Kerdi and replace with 15mm plasterboard? Then just tile the part i'd planned and paint the rest?

Just wondering if there is an option to fix a board on top of the kerdi (like tiling) and then paint on top of that board?

I've attached a picture.

I've asked Schluter technical - they've been very helpful. They suggested skimming on a thin layer of tile adhesive and then plastering on top of that. They did stress it's not a perfect solution but if I really want to avoid taking down the board (and I do) then it "should" be ok. That'll do for me.
